Udi’s Gluten Free Bread – Cravings & Options

Cravings. I try to ignore them. Like, just 5 minutes ago when I was having a staring contest with a display of blueberry muffins, croissants, and sugar-coated pastries. I won…this time. But I don’t think it would be so easy to turn and walk away from these crispy, gooey, doughy treats if there weren’t lots of other gluten free options available, even if the gluten free options aren’t in a local cafe display case taunting me at this very second.

Most foods I love and used to eat have been forgotten because I know my tummy can no longer tolerate them, but there are a couple that come to mind — French toast and Reuben sandwiches — that I get sudden cravings for, cravings that I am now able to fully satisfy, thanks to Udi’s gluten free bread.

I’m not a fancy cook, so maybe it’s ironic that I have a food blog and put some recipes on here from time to time, but I assume that you can Google how to make French Toast and Reubens, so I won’t go into detail about how I prepared them. I just want you to be aware of the options available and to know that this is the best gluten free bread widely available (and I’m not being paid to write this!) gluten free reuben sandwichI have had some really good fresh gluten free bread at a gluten free bakery, but Udi’s is available in many locations, including Whole Foods, Giant, Ingles, and Trader Joes. And you can order it directly from their website, if you don’t live near a store that carries their products.

For the French toast I used Udi’s gluten free white sandwich bread and for the Reuben, their whole grain gluten free bread. (They also have some recipes on their website if you’re interested, including one for gluten free French toast.)

I am also excited to see the BLUEBERRY MUFFINS on their website!! I don’t think I’ve had a good blueberry muffin in AGES, and am dying for one right now. I’ll keep you posted as soon as I can get my grubby little hands on ‘em :-)

    Udi’s is hands down the best. The pizza crusts are great. Crispy and firm but chewy. Not falling apart or cement block-like. The muffins are to die for. (I like the blueberry but bought the lemon the last time – so good!) And the white bread makes the most “real-like” toast!

    I agree w/everyone – Udi’s is the best. I failed at making my own (still trying tho), but eating Udi’s is just like eating regular bread. Haven’t tried french toast yet, but I will soon :) .

    I have tried so many types of bread, even tried making my own gluten free with my bread machine, I had to throw it out!! I was using another brand until I saw this ad on face book. Now I can purchase them at three local stores! So good to have a normal sandwich, french toast, mix with eggs and milk for a super breakfast you can fix at night and put in the oven the next morning! YEA for Udi’s web site and food products!

    I found the muffins at Whole Foods. I did order their chocolate muffins off of the web site and they are sooo good! I also like their bagels. I think I would still like them better than regular bagels, even if I wasn’t gluten free.

    My favorite breakfast is natural peanut butter and blueberry fruit spread on Udi’s white bread with a cup of chocolate soy milk.

    Earth Fare brand is my favorite gingersnap cookie..and I dont even like gingersnaps..these cookies also make an amazing crust for pumpkin cheesecake.

    I am very lucky to live in Colorado, so I have Udi’s available to me almost everywhere! I save all the ends of my Udi’s loafs in a zip lock bag in the freezer, then when I am craving eggplant or chicken parm, I blend up the ends and use for breadcrumbs! I come from a large Italian family, so when we cook, we cook! The breadcrumbs are so good you can’t even tell the difference!

    I have been battling my pastry case at my work (coffee shop!) for the past couple weeks. We have 2 things I can eat at my work; Florentine cookies and 4 cereal bars, none of which take the place of fresh bread! Today, my husband just bought me 2 more loafs of Udi’s so I can finally make more sandwiches and toast! I’m partial to an open-faced tuna melt or patty melt!

    I have no need to be gf but my beloved son is gf/cf/sf amongst other allergens. I am a VERY picky eater and do try everything I serve him. Breaks my heart to know how gross some of his choices taste. But I will say Udi’s, hands down, is THE best. Love their sandwich bread toasted. Blueberry muffins are out if this world and a REAL treat, chocolate chocolate chip muffins!

    My Safeway sells Udi’s Whole Grain breads, it’s in the freezer section…I love it!! Reminds me of french bread when lightly toasted…..yummmmm

    Anyone know of any gluten-free breads that are also sugar free? Udi’s all have sugar or honey or eggs which I also cannot eat.

    No, seriously, Udi’s is THE best! Please try it. Pizza crust, bagels, muffins, bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies, buns…try them all. 99% of GF baked goods are nasty, but not Udi’s!!!

    Udi’s is wonderful bread, it’s the only kind I buy now but I don’t buy it often as I really need to stay away from carbs because not only do I have an intollerance of wheat gluten, but I’m also diabetic. :( I did splurge on the blueberry muffins once and they were wonderful, but I know it’s better for me not to have them.

    I love the Udi’s cinnamon rolls. So good. Try the hotdog and hamburger buns, they taste like regular bread. This is the best bread I have had since going C/F.
